Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the Liminal Cosmos app, operated by Different Productions, LLC ("we"). By using the app you agree to them.

1. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your own non-commercial use, subject to the Apple Media Services / App Store Terms.

2. Space-weather data is a forecast, not a guarantee

Liminal Cosmos presents space-weather information and aurora visibility forecasts derived from third-party data (NOAA, NASA, Open-Meteo) and predictive models. Space weather is inherently uncertain. Forecasts, probabilities, and alerts are estimates and may be wrong, late, or unavailable. Do not rely on the app as your sole source for any decision where accuracy or timing matters — including travel, safety, or the protection of sensitive equipment, aviation, power, or communications systems. Always consult official sources for critical decisions.

3. Not affiliated; data attribution

Liminal Cosmos is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NOAA, NASA, the U.S. Government, or Open-Meteo. Space-weather data originates from NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center and NASA (DONKI, SDO, SOHO); cloud-cover data from Open-Meteo (used under CC-BY 4.0). Those names and marks belong to their owners.

4. The in-app assistant

The assistant runs on your device and produces informational, automated explanations that may be inaccurate or incomplete. It is not professional advice. Verify anything important.

5. Accounts

If you Sign in with Apple, you're responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or violate these Terms. You can delete your account in the app.

6. Subscriptions and purchases

The app is free at launch. If paid features are offered in the future, purchases will be billed through your Apple ID, with prices and terms shown before purchase; any subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends and can be managed or cancelled in iOS Settings.

7. Acceptable use

Don't reverse-engineer, abuse, overload, or scrape the service, or use it unlawfully.

8. Intellectual property

The app, its design, and original content are owned by Different Productions, LLC. Third-party data remains the property of its sources.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Different Productions, LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any decision made in reliance on the app's forecasts or data.

10. Changes and termination

We may modify the app or these Terms; continued use means acceptance. We may discontinue the service.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
