Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the Liminal Cosmos app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices that was created by Different Productions, LLC (hereby referred to as "Service Provider"). This service is intended for use "AS IS". We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.

Information We Collect

Liminal Cosmos collects only the data needed to run the app and understand how it is used. Specifically:

• Email address (Sign in with Apple): When you sign in, Apple provides the email associated with your Apple Account, which we store as your account's contact address. If you choose Hide My Email, this is Apple's private relay address. We request only your email — we do not request or store your name.
• Account and device identifiers: We derive a one-way hashed account identifier (a SHA-256 hash of Apple's stable user identifier — never the raw identifier) to link your account across devices, and an anonymous device identifier used by our analytics. If you enable notifications, we also store your device's push token so we can deliver alerts.
• Approximate location: With your permission, the app uses your device location to compute local aurora visibility. Precise coordinates stay on your device. Our analytics receives only a coarse latitude band (for example, "mid-latitude" or "aurora belt") and whether location access was granted — never your precise coordinates.
• Product interaction: Anonymous usage events (for example, which screens you open and which features you use) to help us understand and improve the app.

You may disable location services at any time through your device settings. The app keeps working without location, but personalized aurora visibility features will not be available. You can use the app without signing in; an account is required only for notifications and features that sync across devices.

Analytics

We use Amplitude to measure how the app is used so we can improve it. Analytics events include product-interaction data, the anonymous device identifier, the hashed account identifier (once you are signed in), and the coarse latitude band described above. We have disabled Amplitude's IP-address-based geolocation and carrier collection. This data is used only for our own analytics — it is not used to track you across other apps or websites, and there is no advertising identifier (IDFA) involved.

Push Notifications

If you opt in to notifications, we store your device's Apple Push Notification service (APNs) token and your notification preferences so we can send you space-weather and aurora alerts. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app or in your device settings.

On-Device Intelligence

The app's assistant runs Apple's on-device foundation models. Your conversations with the assistant are processed on your device and are not collected or transmitted to us.

Third Party Services

The Application relies on third-party services that maintain their own privacy policies:

• Apple — Sign in with Apple, Push Notifications, and the App Store.
• Amplitude — product analytics.

The Application also retrieves space weather data from NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center, a public government service. This data retrieval does not involve sharing your personal information with NOAA.

The Service Provider may disclose information:

• As required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process;
• When they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
• With trusted service providers who work on their behalf, do not have independent use of the information disclosed to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.

Your Choices and Account Deletion

You can stop most collection at any time by turning off location and notifications in your device settings. You can delete your account directly in the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account), which permanently removes your account record, your stored email, your registered devices, and your read state from our servers. You may also contact us at the email address below to request deletion.

Data Retention Policy

We retain your account data for as long as you use the Application. When you delete your account, the associated data is removed from our servers as described above.

Children

The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.

The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case the Service Provider discovers that a child under 13 has provided personal information, the Service Provider will immediately delete this from their servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact the Service Provider so that they will be able to take the necessary actions.

Security

The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. The Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information the Service Provider processes and maintains.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes to the Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.

Your Consent

By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us.
